General preparation guidance. Company-specific file acceptance, processes and capabilities require confirmation / 待确认.
STEP 01
Make the BOM actionable
Use a structured spreadsheet or CSV. Identify each line with reference designators, quantity, description or value, footprint, manufacturer and full manufacturer part number where specified. Separate an approved alternative from a supplier suggestion. State the quantity basis, such as one assembly, and identify customer-supplied items so purchasing responsibilities are clear.
STEP 02
Control variants and unpopulated parts
State the assembly variant and revision. Mark do-not-populate items explicitly and keep those decisions consistent across the BOM, placement output and drawings. Review repeated designators, missing references and lines whose stated quantity differs from the listed references. If several variants share one bare board, provide a clear per-variant population definition.
STEP 03
Document coordinate conventions
A placement file should identify the component reference, X and Y position, side and rotation. Record its units, origin and rotation convention. Exporter options may change origin or bottom-side treatment, so supply the export settings or an explanatory note and agree how the receiving team will interpret the file.
STEP 04
Reconcile the three views
Compare the BOM references with the placement data and assembly drawing. Explain intentional differences such as hand-fitted parts or mechanical items. Include orientation and polarity information for ambiguous parts. A review of a few asymmetric components and bottom-side parts is useful when confirming how the placement data will be interpreted.
STEP 05
Define sourcing and test responsibilities
Identify full turnkey, customer-supplied or mixed sourcing. State whether substitutions require written approval and how shortages should be handled. Attach assembly notes and any test instructions, connector pinout or fixture information needed for a meaningful review. Accepted file formats, package support and actual inspection methods must be confirmed with the company.
BEFORE HANDOVER
Final checklist
- BOM and placement outputs reference the same revision and variant.
- Part numbers, references, quantity basis and sourcing ownership are clear.
- Units, origin, side and rotation conventions are documented.
- Assembly drawings explain polarity, DNP items and special instructions.
